Situated in Emstek, Germany, we are looking for a dedicated Data Engineer to develop and maintain our robust data infrastructure, pivotal to our BI team’s analytical and reporting functions. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Data Engineer at Kalkhoff, part of Pon.Bike, you will manage and enhance our data systems using advanced technologies such as Hana Studio, Snowflake, and Matillion. Your work will ensure seamless data flow and high data quality, supporting our BI applications and enabling effective decision-making across our brands. Working in a multidisciplinary agile team, including three German and three Dutch colleagues, you will participate actively in development sprints and contribute to our locations in Dieren, Amsterdam, Emstek, and Lithuania. This role requires innovation and collaboration with Architects and BI Developers, driving forward our data-driven initiatives. Your responsibilities are:

  • Defining, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data infrastructure in Hana Studio, Snowflake & Matillion.
  • Assess the workload and impact off small changes and large projects together with the rest of the team in refinements.
  • Implement and manage data pipe-lines, ensuring timely and accurate data availability.
  • Monitor and ensure the integrity and quality of data within our Data Platform.
  • Support the BI-Conultants with data questions / issues.
  • Monitor and administer the ETL jobs.
  • Optimize data storage and processing for efficient access and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain semantic layer to support BI and analytics initiatives.
  • Work with IT security to implement data governance and compliance standards.
  • Support the PO in ensuring data infrastructure supports business objectives.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the market around BI and align with other BI team members and the Tech Lead to ensure there is a technology roadmap (consisting of multiple Epics) for the BI Platform.

YOUR PROFILE:

You are a proactive, structured thinker with a deep understanding of data systems and a knack for solving complex data challenges. Your technical expertise and meticulous approach to data management make you a valuable asset to any data-driven team.

And also:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Data Science.
  • At least successful experience in data engineering, with hands-on experience in managing data systems like Hana Studio, Snowflake, or Matillion. Experience in data-rich environments,  data modeling design patterns (like data vault), and/or knowledge of data processing technologies (like ERP systems) is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with Scrum/Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to empathize with stakeholders, translating their needs into technical tasks and plans within an agile team context.
  • You are fluent in the technical language of data architecture and can also communicate effectively with business stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of data infrastructure and its impact on business goals.
  • Capable of independently developing strategic visions for the data infrastructure and effectively translating these visions into actionable plans for the data team, the broader organization, and end users.
  • Your English language skills are important for working with Pon.Bike, your good German language skills will help you interact with the German team members.
